Commuter Benefits

This benefit allows employees to put money aside pre-tax to help reduce the cost of commuting to work while also reducing the FICA obligations of the employer. Flex Facts provides a stored value debit card that employees can use at the point of service to pay for their eligible mass transit and parking expenses.

There are two types of accounts available under the commuter benefits.
Mass Transit: Employees can put aside up to $315 per month to pay for their mass transit expenses between; their home or a place where they park in order to take a form of mass transit to work and there place of employment. Eligible expenses include the train, bus, ferry or other form of transportation provided by any person in the business of transporting persons for compensation or hire as long as such transportation is provided in a vehicle with a seating capacity of at least six adults, excluding the driver.

Parking: Employees can put aside up to $315 per month to pay for parking at or near their place of employment or a place where they park to take mass transit, car pool or van pool to their place of employment.
